COMPAS-CJS Educational Objective

The COMPAS-CJS Program aims to cultivate global human resources which are able to approach issues from an international comparative view, possess specialized knowledge, and are able to make proposals to resolve issues in the international community. This program seeks to have students who are highly specialized and have the ability to communicate globally, skills which have been cultivated within a multilingual education, and to foster global leaders who have acquired the ability to act and be actively involved in areas from a comparative perspective.

Program Features

The objectives of the COMPAS-CJS Program are: (1) to create a place for students of the University of Tsukuba, and four European Universities, University of Bonn (Germany), Free University of Berlin (Germany), University of Franche-Comté (France) and University of Ljubljana (Slovenia) as well as Korea University (South Korea), to come together and learn to appreciate the values of regional integration, that is the European Union and the East Asian Community, with an orientation toward the future; (2) to enhance the methodology of international comparison and to have candidates tackle, from a global perspective, various issues involved in modern society, which today's Europe and East Asia have inherited; and (3) to equip students with the ability to be global leaders by preparing highly specialized doctoral dissertations, and taking courses which the program offers at affiliated graduate schools. The program offers a trans-disciplinary education from the perspective of international comparison and specialized knowledge under a cooperative system with collaborating universities in Europe and Asia.
